Description: A decorative illustrated design to reflect the schools location between the Atlantic, Moycullen Bogland and Lough Corrib.

This was part of a percent for Art commission which was divided between three artists. Taking inspiration from the location of the school this design reflects the closeness of the sea, Lough Corrib and the boglands of Moycullin.

The playful design forms a series of waves with background colours reflecting the interior design on doors and floors with textured animated animals, birds, and insects flowing across the surface. Each of these have coloured and textured patterns on their surfaces which give added interest to the viewer. Small coloured ceramic stones break up the design into sections and reflect on the stony beaches of nearby Salthill. These have hidden images of tiny insects, people, and words which can be used as a distraction for children or to play a game of ‘I Spy’.

One day of ceramic workshops exploring local wildlife found around Barna woods and the seashore resulted in a second artwork for the end wall in the corridor—made by rang Muinteoir Fionnuala.
