Commissioned by: Macmillan Cancer Care

Location: Macmillan Palliative Care Unit, Antrim Hospital

Architects: Todd Architects

Description: A ceramic relief artwork with printed and textured surfaces

Concept: The ceramic wall piece in the foyer of the Macmillan Palliative Care Unit at Antrim Hospital consists of a relief of textured and coloured tiles showing a glimpse through a woodland clearing.
In between trees and leaves are areas of soft colour, interspersed with woodland birds and insects. A group of figures play in the distance and a cautious hare stares at the viewer. A flock of birds breaks through the artwork flowing around the space and appears again in another area.
It produces a sense of calm, gives long term interest, acts as a decorative and beautiful addition to the space and which will, ultimately, bring a ray of sunshine on a rainy day.
