Description: A community project involving patients to make 2 artworks for the unit.
Concept: The Elephant in the Garden’- You might want to think of the elephant in the garden as the worry that stops you starting tasks.
These two pieces of art were created solely by patients with guidance from Diane at the Rathview mental health unit and the Elm and Lime wards in Omagh. The theme of elephants was selected to symbolize the ability to overcome challenges, serving as a metaphor for the journey of recovery. Over the course of 10 weeks, two artworks were completed in a single afternoon session each week, with different patients participating, dedicating half the time to ceramics and the other half to mosaics.
