The aim of the art commission is to provide an opportunity for the selected artist to create a new piece of work, developed through workshops with the pupils and staff and exploring the themes of ecology in the surrounding school area of Castletroy.

In the bustling corridors of St Laurences National School in Crookstown, a remarkable ceramic mural spans the main stairwell, encapsulating the spirit and heritage of the school and its surrounding community. Commissioned by the Board of Management, this expansive artwork stretches an impressive 16 meters, becoming a central piece in the school’s new site near the river Greese.
